THRIFT CULTURE IN NEPAL

 Thrifting is a word that incites excitement,happiness and joy within me. Shopping but cheaper,who would not love it..As a You tube junkie who loves watching Try on Hauls,I've watched tons of thrift videos and have thoroughly enjoyed them.The notion that you are contributing to reduce the wastes in terms of clothing along with the feel of owning something new makes thrifting more fun.As someone who grew up in an Asian household with many siblings,passed down clothes have been a part of my life and I'm always more than happy to add collections to my "non-existent" wardrobe collection. I mean who doesn't love clothings? All of the colours and patterns that keep you warm and happy,I'm someone who's always ready to accept new clothes.

As I grow older,I've also developed this habit of constantly going through online stores on Instagram and realizing I want things which I would've never thought about if I hadn't come across them while scrolling through insta feeds.I keep on fantasizing about owning the dresses I'm 100% sure would never ever wear even if I bought them.I've actually bought about many pairs of such clothes and they haunt my closet till date.

Thrifting is a culture that hasn't really established itself in the Nepali world.Handing down clothes though has been a part of our lives for all of us Nepalese with siblings and cousins but thrifting as a business hasn't really set foot in the markets of Nepal.

However,thirifting seems to be on rise among the Nepali instagram world currently.I don't know if its cause I've been really engaged on finding thrift stores online but lately I'm stuck on my phone most of the time scrolling through thrift clothings and must I say,there's a huge collection out there waiting for possible costumers.As someone who's basically earned a diploma in thrift stores throughout the interval of lockdown months,may I introduce you to some stores I've found note worthy.

May I boldly say this is the most organized and well displayed store with an amazing collection of clothes all in affordable prices.Their clothes honestly get booked so fast that I've bowed to set a notification to keep up with their collection.They have a follower base of 3K and it just keeps on increasing each day.Please make sure to check them out.

Thrift and vintage!! This is the store that wakes the inner vintage loving demon within me.I'm eyeing for a pair of corduroy pants from their collection which always seem to get booked right away. Anyways,I shall not rest in peace until I've landed my hands on one such pair in the future.

Thrift culture in Nepal owes a lot to this particular account from what I've realized.This is a personal collection from Sanna gurung who's a new mother right now,YAYY! Congratulations to her! 4.SUKHAWATI STORE

As a thrift store and a social enterprise,this store is a total winner.They have really really affordable collection and the funds raised go to building classrooms and providing education.The only better duo than that can be momo and coke,so honestly guys,pleas check their store out.They also have a store in Samakhusi,I believe and they conduct fund raising programs from time to time.Also,they put up clothes banks at several places which I think is a wonderful idea to reduce cloth wastes and garner some use out of them.

This store is one I've witnessed grow over weeks and months.They have a diverse collection and best thing,they have a physical store.Besides this,they also have a collection of amazing kurthas and saris at an amazing price range.Who's got a pair of saree for their cousin's wedding and never ever wore them again?Possibly every one of us..If so,sell through them and buy amazing ones from their collection.

Their follower base is almost at 5k and I'm pretty sure the no will only keep on rising from here on.

This is another wonderful store that displays thoroughly handpicked vintage clothes.I dare say their feed is an aesthetic sight to see and so are their model.BEAUTIFUL!! Their collection of clothes,their feed, edits and model!! Everything in general "insert chef's kiss".

Another collection that offers trendy outfits at a reasonable price and sells out rather quickly.Also,the sticker she uses to block her head from appearing in pictures is so cute!If you don't get what I'm referring to,check the link.

Another well curated store with tops,shorts,dresses,coats and what not.Their feed is really appealing and so is their collection.
